The Cuppett Dance Company was formed to give the more serious student a chance to perform, compete, and reap the benefits of participating in a team-oriented atmosphere.
Membership is by audition only, and after a student has met certain criteria in their dance training; such as specific ballet, tap and jazz levels, and age. A professional attitude is required which is defined in our Code of Ethics.
The Company participates in two to three competitions a year, but we are not a competition-focused studio. We believe in a balanced approach to performance training. Several competitions a year are beneficial to the student as long as there are plenty of technique classes and new choreography development to challenge the mind and body. We also offer plenty of other non-competitive performance opportunities; such as at dance workshops, community performances, nursing homes, fundraisers, and our Spring Ballet and June recitals.
The members of the CDC typically host one fundraiser a year which is directly aimed to benefit persons or organizations in the community. The students act together to benefit a needy cause, creating a giving atmosphere and family-like bond between the members, and thereby benefiting the community as a whole.
Amy Stiverson, JannieLe Nguyen and Ashley Cuppett lead the Company in 2009-2010, and they are passionate and ambitious about their work! They believe not only in creating a balanced dance year in a fun, yet very challenging atmosphere, but also in helping members realize important life lessons. Truly, there is no other dance company out there like the CDC!
